Our Mission
At NS Nanotech, we develop nanoscale light-emitting diodes enabling microdisplays for future generations of TVs, computer, phones, and smart glasses. ​
We founded the company in 2017 with exclusive rights to a patent portfolio based on more than a decade of groundbreaking work on nanowire-based LEDs by Dr. Zetian Mi at McGill University and the University of Michigan. ​​
We are developing components based on nitride semiconductors (the "NS" in our name) that will deliver an entirely new generation of solid-state lighting performance based on sub-micron-scale nanowire LEDs.
A Brighter Future
We have already announced breakthroughs in LED performance on our roadmap to deliver the world's first Gallium Nitride nanowire LEDs for both visible RGB displays and invisible UVC light for disinfection.
​Our laboratory samples of GaN nanowire LEDs are demonstrating the potential to deliver orders-of-magnitude improvements in brightness, efficiency, color saturation, directionality, and power consumption for large displays, AR/VR microdisplays, and, eventually, UVC disinfection.
​With this technology foundation, we are working to help usher in a new era in solid-state semiconductor lighting technology.
Nanoscale-LEDs will be an essential cornerstone of future AI eyeglasses that integrate Blutooth audio as well as micro-display-based light engines that project digital information such as emails, real-time conversation captions, augmented reality applications, and other data on eyeglass lenses.
The tiny nanowire LEDs are an ideal form-factor solution required by current generations of AI and AR display glasses that are too bulky and heavy, and that consumer too much power, to achieve mass-consumer acceptance.
