Company Description
NS Nanotech was founded in 2017 with the intention of commercializing technologies developed by Professor Zetian Mi at the University of Michigan. The company recently secured a subsequent round of funding and is looking to expand its research and development team. The developed products will be used to commercialize ultraviolet (UV) light-emitting devices for disinfection.

Job Description
We are seeking a talented and motivated test engineer to operate and design test systems required for the development of NS Nanotech’s light emitting devices. The ideal candidate would have experience in building test systems, developing test software, and running the tests themselves. Experience in test software languages (i.e. LabVIEW), electronic circuit prototyping, and mechanical design would all be highly desired for this position. As part of a small start-up company, the test engineer’s contributions will directly and significantly impact NS Nanotech’s product line and success as a world leader in UV disinfection. This is a hands-on, experimental role, perfect for someone who likes to roll up their sleeves and make things work.

Responsibilities

Design and develop optoelectronic test systems

Build test hardware
-
Design, assemble, and debug test electronics

Program test software to meet the needs of a wide range of skill levels, from scientist to operator

Coordinate with the technical and management teams, as necessary

Document experiments properly

Exhibit and mandate safe working and housekeeping practices

Position Requirements
-
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering
-
2+ years of experience in an industrial setting
-
Experience with assembling electrical and mechanical measurement apparatus
-
Experience prototyping electronic circuits
-
Familiarity with test automation software (LabVIEW, MATLAB) or other test control methods (i.e. microcontrollers)

Experience with lab and chemical safety procedures
-
US citizenship or work authorization and completed COVID-19 vaccination
-
Available for immediate full-time work

Familiarity with mechanical drawings, circuit diagrams, the use of hand tools, electronics assembly, machine shop operations, etc.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team

Ability to work in a lab facility, including being comfortable with wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
