Company Description

NS Nanotech was founded in 2017 with the intention of commercializing technologies developed by Professor Zetian Mi at the University of Michigan. The company recently secured a subsequent round of funding and is looking to expand its research and development team. The developed products will be used to commercialize ultraviolet (UV) light-emitting devices for disinfection.

Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated high voltage power supply engineer to design, develop, and test the power supply circuitry used by NS Nanotech’s light emitting devices. The ideal candidate would possess a strong working knowledge of high voltage power supplies and insight into the design challenges associated with them. This is a hands-on, experimental role, perfect for someone who likes to roll up their sleeves and make things work. As part of a small start-up company, the high voltage power supply engineer’s contributions will directly and significantly impact NS Nanotech’s product line and success as a world leader in UV disinfection.​

Responsibilities

• Design and development of high voltage power supplies

• Hands-on prototyping and testing of circuit designs

• Evaluation of power supplies on the bench-top and in products

• Optimization of power supply output characteristics to improve light-emitting device performance

• Coordination with the technical and management teams, as necessary

• Proper documentation of experiments

• Exhibit and mandate safe working and housekeeping practices

Position Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering

• 2+ years of experience in an industrial setting

• Experience with high voltage power supply design

• Experience with power supply characterization and optimization

• Hands on experience building and testing prototype circuits

• Familiarity with circuit design and layout software

• Experience with lab and chemical safety procedures

• US citizenship or work authorization and completed COVID-19 vaccination

• Available for immediate full-time work

• Familiarity with mechanical drawings, circuit diagrams, the use of hand tools, electronics assembly, machine shop operations, etc.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team

• Ability to work in a lab facility, including being comfortable with wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

•  Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in an industrial environment

• Experience with electromagnetic shielding approaches

• Experience sourcing prototype and production circuit boards

• Strong technical communications skills

• Hands-on experience troubleshooting equipment

• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts
